Katherine Jenkins announces tour

SHE may still be on the road with Darcey Bussell as part of the Viva La Diva show but Katherine Jenkins is already planning her own tour.

The mezzo soprano will launch her 14-date show – her first concert tour for two years – in Sheffield on December 1.

It will end at Cardiff International Arena on December 22.

Tickets for the performances go on sale on Friday.

Jenkins is expected to perform a selection of hits from her four-year career during the tour, including songs from her sixth album, a collection of sacred arias, which will be released in November 2008 on UCJ Music.

The Neath-born singer said: “Although I’ve loved being in Viva La Diva, it’s meant that I haven’t actually done a concert tour for two years.

“I am so excited to be going back out on the road with an orchestra and to be premiering some songs from the new album.”

She will be supported by the four-piece classical boy band Blake, who have just won the Album Of The Year Award at the Classic Brits.

The tour will see Jenkins perform in a number of major cities, including Glasgow, Newcastle, London, Birmingham and Manchester.

Meanwhile, Jenkins and former prima ballerina Bussell will complete the latest leg of their Viva La Diva tour in Manchester tomorrow.

The stage show, in which the stars pay tribute to their favourite divas of all time, was initially launched last year.

But due to popular demand, it was revived again this year.

In the show, Jenkins tries her hand at dancing and Bussell entertains the audiences with her voice as well as her footwork.
