Honour makes Matthew Rhys Glaad all over

WELSH heart-throb Matthew Rhys has been honoured by an organisation set up to promote fair treatment of gay men and lesbians in the media.

Cardiff-born Rhys, who has played opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins and Keira Knightly, is probably best known for his portrayal of gay lawyer Kevin in US drama, Brothers and Sisters.

As a committed and dedicated actor, Welsh-speaking Rhys has never had a problem with playing a gay role or being a gay icon.

“I just think if you’re fortunate enough to be confident and secure in yourself, and you know it’s a role you’re playing, I don’t see where the problem lies really,” he said.

He might think there’s nothing to it, but the media types at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) clearly think Matthew’s got something to offer.
