Pentangle coup for Green Man Festival

PENTAGLE have been confirmed as the final headliner for this year’s Green Man Festival in what will be a world-exclusive festival performance.

The reformed folk-rock pioneers will embark on a UK tour this summer and even though that tour includes a date at St David’s Hall in Cardiff on July 1, the band have confirmed that they will close the tour at the intimate Brecon festival.

Pentangle will close the festival on the main stage on Sunday night, and will follow fellow headliners Spiritualized and Super Furry Animals who lead the line-up on Friday and Saturday respectively.

It is quite a coup for Green Man to secure the only festival date by the folk supergroup in their 40th anniversary year, although some of the band – which comprises Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox – have performed at the festival in a solo capacity.

Among the other artists on the bill for the folk and rock festival, which takes place at Glanusk Park in the Brecon Beacons from August 15-17, are Richard Thompson, King Creosote, Badly Drawn Boy, James Yorkston, Laura Marling and Cardiff indie band Los Campesinos.

Adult weekend tickets for the event cost £105 including on-site camping and parking, while entry is free for under 12s.
