WELSH rock heavyweights Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend are to play special small-scale gigs in South Wales.
Pontypridd superstars Lostprophets have announced they will be playing at Cardiff University Solus Bar on Tuesday, June 10.
While the Solus is a decent-sized venue for most bands it’s not the CIA or the main stage at Reading Festival, the kind of giant platform the band normally occupies. So this is certain to be a top gig from a brilliant live band.
Tickets cost £17.50 from the Students’ Union box office on 029 2078 1458.
Meanwhile, Funeral For A Friend, another band that usually commands main stage slots at the cream of Britain’s major festivals, will play at the even smaller TJ’s in Newport on Friday, July 4.
Unsurprisingly tickets have already sold out. Call the venue on 01633 216 608 for more information.
However, if hard rock/metal is your bag then you’ll be happy to know that Motorhead have announced their return to Cardiff University on November 15.
It will cost you £25 to see Lemmy and the boys unleashing musical hell, while it will cost you £15 to see Glassjaw there on Friday, May 9. Call the university box office on 029 2078 1458 to book for either of these.
Meanwhile, Barfly in Cardiff will be subject to a visit from one of my favourite new bands, electro-punk ravers Late Of The Pier, on Sunday, May 4. Tickets for that one cost £8.50 and are available from 0844 847 2424.
