Boyzone join Bryn for 2008 Faenol Festival

REFORMED Irish band Boyzone will open Bryn Terfel’s 2008 Faenol Festival, it is announced today.

The five-piece boy-band, fronted by Ronan Keating, will follow in the footsteps of Girls Aloud, who opened last year’s festival.

The four-day event, which takes place at the Faenol Estate near Bangor during the August Bank Holiday weekend, is a major showcase for classical music and opera and also features pop and rock.

Boyzone will open the festival on August 22.

Terfel, currently playing the title role in Welsh National Opera’s production of Falstaff, said, “I’m very excited to be announcing that Boyzone will be opening this year’s Faenol Festival.

“It’s a real coup for us, as their tour dates are limited. I know that fans will turn out in droves to welcome them and enjoy their music.”

Although Boyzone split in 2000, the men reunited last year for Children In Need. Now they are joining the growing list of bands reforming for money-spinning tours.

They will be performing a selection of love songs in Wales and tickets for the show go on sale tomorrow . The rest of the festival programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
