That’s entertainment

IT doesn’t seem like 12 months since we were last dressed to the nines and raising a glass at the Bafta Cymru awards.

Well time certainly flies and this Sunday the 2008 bash will be held at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay.

The nominees are no doubt busy rehearsing their acceptance speeches and practising striking the right poses ready for their time in the spotlight.

I don’t envy them too much as I know what hard work posing is. Yes, really! Last weekend, my friend Carolyn and I agreed to pose for a series of pictures for photographer Darryl Corner’s website. We went from being extremely self-conscious to pretending we were catwalk stars (a few glasses of wine helped!). It was good fun and I’ve used one image in this column – though I doubt Kate Moss will lose too much sleep over her new “rivals”.

But I’m glad it will be people like Best Actress nominee Eve Myles, rather than myself, who will have to “work it” on the red carpet on Sunday.

This week Bafta Cymru director Lisa Nesbitt took time out from last-minute preparations to tell us all about her recent cultural experiences. Read article here. For more on the Baftas, don’t miss tomorrow’s Western Mail Magazine.

Well, spring is here and with it comes a series of big-screen blockbusters, including Sex And The City. Read today's Western Mail for a guide to the movies that will be keeping you entertained during the coming weeks .
