CELTIC CRUSADERS head coach John Dixon has declared his intention to stay at the club until at least 2011.
The Australian coach, who was an assistant to Wayne Bennett at Brisbane Broncos for 10 years, has recently been linked with coaching positions at other rugby league clubs.
But Dixon confirmed his desire to remain at the Crusaders and lead them to the Super League.
“I came to Wales to be the head coach at the Crusaders,” said Dixon.
“I came to play a part in building a club and in establishing rugby league as a major sport in Wales. The three years I have been here have been most rewarding.
“Rugby league in Wales is on the front foot and with a very strong, viable Super League application in place we are on the cusp of very significant achievements here at the Crusaders.
“I am delighted to have been offered the option of remaining as head coach of the Crusaders and I am committed here until at least 2011.
“I have not applied for any position at any other club.
“The objective of taking the Crusaders into Super League remains my primary goal.”
And Crusaders chief executive David Thompson has warned any potential suitors about trying to lure Dixon away from Bridgend.
“Contrary to what people may have read, John Dixon’s future lies with the Crusaders,” said Thompson.
“John has done a fantastic job, both in relation to the playing and non-playing sides of the club, is highly respected by fans, players and staff alike and I’m very pleased to confirm that he is not going anywhere.
“He has a fantastic record, both here and in Australia, and he will be the man coaching the players on Friday against Featherstone Rovers at the Brewery Field.
“And, if we are successful in our application, he will be the man coaching the players in Super League next season and beyond.”
