Rugby league: Wildcats set to be unleashed

RUGBY league returns to Merthyr Tydfil tomorrow with the official launch of the Tydfil Wildcats junior rugby league team.

After discussions between local volunteers and Wales Rugby League, it has been announced that the Wildcats will run teams at under-13 and under-15 age groups.

Merthyr was the first place in Wales to ever stage a rugby league match and the launch for the new side will take place tomorrow evening at the Grove Fields in Aberfan at 6.30pm, and will be attended by Celtic Crusaders staff.

The junior season in Wales is now starting to take shape.

Wildcats will compete with Cardiff, Newport, Blackwood, Torfaen, Valley Cougars, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and West Wales Sharks for the chance to play in the inaugural under-13 and under-15 grand finals.
