R League: Demons ready for a Tigerish encounter

CARDIFF Demons kick-off a truncated Welsh Conference programme when they host Torfaen Tigers at St Peter’s tonight (7pm).

The Demons are unbeaten at home this season, but face a Tigers side in form after their win over Blackwood Bulldogs.

The weekend’s only other match sees champions Bridgend Blue Bulls at Neath-Port Talbot tomorrow (1pm).

Blue Bulls will be shorn of several star names through injury and Wales calls, but welcome back Marc Davies, Lenny Woodard and Tevita Manaseitava.

Team manager Simon Green said: “We will miss the guys playing for Wales, but we have a strong squad and the guys coming in will give 100 per cent.”

For their part, the Steelers will give debuts to Jon McPhail, Chris Kinsey and former Blue Bull Gareth James.
