Steelers claim first win

THE Steelers sealed their first win in the 2007 Welsh Premier Conference at Green Stars RFC.

The first half was a tight affair with the Cougars taking the initiative with an early try by Nigel Edwards goaled by Gary Williams.

It was a short-lived lead as Richard Lewis struck back for the Steelers.

Williams then converted a penalty for the Cougars to give them an 8-4 interval lead, one they increased early in the second half courtesy of a Mark Jones try which Williams converted.

The Steelers fought back with tries from Gareth Lewis and Peter Semerg, Chris Cornelius converting one to level the scores at ta14-14.

The Steelers then stepped up a gear with further tries from Cornelius and Dean Scully, Ryan Jones converting both.
