R League: Bulldogs out for revenge over Bridgend

BRIDGEND Blues Bulls continue the defence of their Welsh Rugby League Conference crown tomorrow – against the side which came within seconds of ending their long reign.

The Bulls have held the title since its inception in 2003, but trailed by 17 points with 10 minutes to go in last season’s semi-final with Blackwood Bulldogs, only to snatch a 32-31 win with a remarkable late comeback.

The Bulldogs head for Porthcawl tomorrow (2.30pm) looking for revenge.

Bulldogs coach Roger Moore said: “My heart was in bits after the game last year.

“It was our first season as a Rugby League side and we came within seconds of making the Wales final which was a great achievement, but we’d love to go one better this year and beat the Blue Bulls.”

Elsewhere, the Valley Cougars look to bounce back from their midweek defeat to the Torfaen Tigers when they travel to the winless Neath-Port Talbot Steelers.

Cardiff Demons become the first visitors to West Wales Sharks’ new home at Furnace RFC, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s single-point defeat to Blackwood.

A Newport Titans look to strengthen their title credentials in a Gwent derby with Pill Harriers.
