Football: Leisure Leagues go national

JOINING Neath Leisure League could bring sides the chance to represent the borough in a national tournament.

The league this week announced it will be staging a free twice-yearly national tournament – and the winners and runners-up of the Neath league will be invited to enter.

Leisure Leagues senior manager Chris Rowntree explained: “Thousands of teams from all over the UK enjoy playing in our leagues every week.

“But we know the one thing missing is a national knockout cup. Players want to test themselves against the best, and two teams from Neath will have the chance to do that.”

Successful sides will compete in the tournament at Leisure Leagues’ purpose-built indoor centre in Cardiff.

The finals take place in June and September, when teams from Leisure Leagues’ 200 UK competitions collect their trophies and get the chance to play each other.

Teams can look forward to top-quality organisation, with all equipment provided and games refereed by a United Kingdom Independent Football Federation (UKIFF) qualified official.

Teams can also read their results, tables and match reports on Leisure Leagues’ website.
