Penydarren BC 4 Sully Sports 2
A DRAMATIC ending saw Penydarren snatch the win after coming from two goals down.
A first-half horror show from Pen saw them go in at the break 2-0 down and going nowhere.
The first came after 10 minutes when slack defensive marking let in Andrew Jones to head in from six yards.
A scrappy first half got worse on 44 minutes. Sully went two up when a defensive mix-up between Anthony Thomas and Gavin Park let in Joseph Hinds to tap in at the far post.
Stern words from manager Colin Reddy at half-time gave Pen the lift they needed in the second half and they deservedly pulled a goal back on 60 minutes when Craig Reddy scored from the spot.
It was all square with 20 minutes left when Scott Lanyon scored with a precision shot from 12 yards.
A superb fingertip save from keeper Park kept Pen in the hunt when he turned a fierce shot around his post.
It was now time for super sub Thomas Harris to shine and shine he did, putting Pen 3-2 up in the 85th minute then deservedly getting his second and Pen’s fourth with two minutes left, sealing a fine victory for Pen over last season’s league winners.
On Saturday Pen make the long journey to play St Athan. Kick-off is 2pm. Players to meet at noon.
