Bowls: Ogwr’s hopes dashed

OGWR’s hopes of winning the East Section of the WIBA National Club Championship evaporated when they crashed at home to their main rivals Merthyr.

It was a crunch top-of-the-table game, but for some reason Ogwr never really got going and were 45 shots down at tea, when only the rink of Les Harris was ahead.

They did stage a brave fightback but ended up losing by 23 shots overall.

Keith Llewellyn skipped a winning rink but top rink was the quartet of Vernon Jones, Vince Jones, John Morse and Colin Stephens, which had a six-shot winning margin.
