GLAMORGAN had to wait to open their Liverpool Victoria county championship season after rain delayed the start of their first four-day clash against Middlesex at Lord's.
Play was unable to begin at 11am although it is predicted the rain will clear in London after lunch.
Meanwhile, Middlesex captain Ed Smith has pulled out of the division two clash with flu with Ed Joyce taking over the leadership reins.
Glamorgan are set to hand championship debuts to Australian paceman Jason Gillespie, former Yorkshire opener Matthew Wood and ex-Middlesex all-rounder Jamie Dalrymple, who left Lord's for Wales in the winter.
As expected, Glamorgan have left out slow left-armer Dean Cosker from their original 12-man squad, with Ryan Watkins retaining his place.
