Athletics: Harding just misses out on student final

WELSH 400m runner Faye Harding failed to qualify for the world student games final in Thailand – but it was close.

Harding, a student at Loughbrough University, finished fifth in her semi-final, just two 100ths of a second behind the fourth-placed athlete, Maris Magi, of Estonia, who was timed at 53.53secs.

Today, Uwic student Richard Hill is due to begin his bid for a medal in the 800m, and on Monday, European Under-23 triple jump champion Gary White begins his campaign.
