Athletics: Relegation looms as Cardiff’s men struggle

CARDIFF AAC’s men’s team is staring relegation in the face after a disastrous result in the British Athletics League third round at the weekend.

With only two winners to show for their efforts, the club must hope for a much better performance in next month’s final round if they are to avoid the drop to Division Two.

Debutant Joe Maynard won the 800metre A race and Matt Butler equalled the achievement in the 110m hurdles, but the club still finished last from eight teams.

And Cardiff were unable to field a team in either of the two relays.
