Neath player has surgery

  NEATH scrum-half Gareth Jones has had successful surgery at the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff to stabilise his neck injury. He remains on a ventilator and will need further investigations to determine further treatment and management. Jones, of Pontypridd and who works as a decorator, was hurt at a ruck during a game against Cardiff last Saturday Play was delayed for around 10 minutes while medical staff attended to Jones during Neath's 24-22 defeat. After treatment on the pitch, he was transferred to hospital where scans revealed a significant injury to Jones's neck. Early last Monday morning he developed complications which required emergency surgery and Jones remains under observation in the Intensive Care Unit. Read
