Drovers servant seeks to finish on a high

LONDON-BORN Iestyn Thomas went to Llandovery as a schoolboy and then a lecturer.

He joined the coaching side in the early 1990s and guided them to cup success last season.

Now, as he prepares to retire at the end of this season, he believes that they can avoid relegation.

“The pressure of being coach is a lot and, though I am stepping down at 56, I will not leave the club,” he said. “I will be working to get sponsorship here.”

The game promises to be a high-scoring affair and Drovers fly-half Gareth Morgan will remember a brilliant display he produced at the Memorial Ground while a first-year student at Uwic.

His 37 points in his last three outings has helped Llandovery gain two wins.

Wanderers reshuffle with Rhys Jones making his debut from the Blues, partnered by Lloyd Williams and Josh Hannam is a relatively new face on the wing.
