Wanderers going for historic double

THIS will not only be the first result of the day, as the game kicks off at 1.30pm, but also could be a historic match with the Wanderers going for their first double over their local rivals, having won 18-12 at the Arms Park in October.

Wanderers welcome back skipper Matt Bolton after a two-month lay-off with injury and lock Gareth Knight is also recalled to the pack after illness.

In the backs, Simon Rosser returns to partner Gareth Morris at centre and Steve Cullen resumes on the wing with Jonathan Luff being on the bench for the first time this season after a shoulder operation, while his brother Alex starts as flanker and their father actually appeared at lock for both clubs.

Cardiff again keep their selection under wraps, but they are not playing to their full potential at present, as coach Justin Burnell realises, and this will be a surprisingly severe test.

Injuries, loss of form and unavailability of players such as Leigh Halfpenny means that the Wanderers will start slight favourites, though they would probably prefer to be ranked still as underdogs.

Glamorgan Wanderers: C Johnson; S Cullen, G Morris, S Rosser, J Jones; M Roper, H Trelawney; M Bolton (capt), R Emms, A Murphy, K Stewart, G Knight, Alex Luff, R Thomas, B Rose.

Cardiff: (to be announced).
