Keys coach Beale wants back door locked

CARDIFF lead 5-1 in home league meetings with Keys and will be favourites again.

Though rain prevented Keys from training on Thursday, coach Rob Beale – who has called for firm defence – said, “We watched film of both us and Cardiff and are ready for it.”

More ready than most are Keys full-back Leon Andrews and No 8 James Malpas, who are both former Cardiff players. Both men were also in superb form in last week’s win over Swansea.

Skipper Ben Watkins and lock colleague Ashley Sweet are injured, but Keys go for a grafting pack as Geraint Gladwyn steps up both as lock and skipper.

Cardiff – at home for only the fifth time this season – play selection guessing games again.

But they are definitely without former Keys centre Gareth Chapman, on sevens duty for Wales.

Cardiff: to be announced.

Cross Keys: L Andrews; G Williams, C Pocock, D Dark, N Preece; R James, O Jones; B Fisher, L Burns, C Gould, M Curtis, G Gladwyn (capt), C Bridges, J Malpas, T Lampard.
