Ravens shake Ponty to the core

PAUL WILLIAMS, who is expected to become new Bridgend head coach next season, was delighted following this revenge win.

The previous week Pontypridd had trounced the Ravens 41-11 at Sardis Road in the Konica Minolta Cup quarter-finals.

“Good to see us get back at them; it’s certainly something to work on for next year,” said Williams, 36, currently assistant coach.

Chris Stephens, the Ravens head coach for the last four years, gives up after the end of this season due to work commitments.

“I’ve had inquiries about coaching at other clubs. I might return one day, but not at the moment,” he added.

Pontypridd skipper Nathan Strong said: “This contrast in performance is what happens I suppose, but there’s always next time.”

That is on Wednesday night at Pontypridd when these clubs clash again, for the third time in 12 days.

No 8 Gareth Williams and centre Geoff Hobbs scored the home tries.

Bridgend: Tries – G Williams, G Hobbs; cons – G David (2); pens – David (2).
