West Divisions round-up

FIVE penalties and a conversion by ace kicker Leighton Walters helped Kidwelly gain a 27-20 verdict over Carmarthen Athletic in Division Two West's match of the day, despite Carmarthen's 18-8 half time lead.

Right-wing Nathan Jones and scrum-half Craig Thomas also scored tries for Kidwelly after Owen Higgins had put the Athletic ahead with a penalty. But although there were second half tries by Brad Kersted and Dai Jenkins, it was Walters who kicked Kidwelly to victory.

With Tonmawr engaged in Welsh Cup activity Corus leap-frogged them in the table by winning 29-10 at Felinfoel, whose points came from a Daniel Evans try to go with a conversion and penalty by Jonathan Thomas.

No 8 Mark Davies was the Corus hero with a try hat-trick, with two for Justin Walters.

Llangefni stay top of Division Three (West) after a 32-3 home win over Haverfordwest, as Iwan Davies (2), Arwel Roberts and Rhodri Grey scored Llangefni's tries, with three conversions and two penalties from Matthew Parry against Mike Venables' penalty for the visitors.

Aberystwyth stay in contention after beating Trimsaran 37-0 as Gwilym Evans scored their seven first half points with a try and conversion, with tries from Geraint Rowlands, Paul Stubbs, Bryn Evans and Aled Evans.

Tumble stay third in the second after easily beating Newcastle Emlyn 32-9 with tries from Richard Rees (3), Hefin Dumbrill and Nicky Allinson, who landed two conversions alongside a Steve Hewett penalty.

Llanelli Wanderers' poor recent run continued with a 25-7 defeat at Lampeter as they had a try by Carl Evans, converted by Dan Rogers. Llyr Jones grabbed two tries for Lampeter and Llion Russell also crossed as Huw Thomas slotted two conversions, a penalty and dropped goal.

Llanybydder marched on at the top of Division Four (West) with a 48-19 win against Morriston with tries by Rhys Bowen (2), Gareth Jones, Darren Williamson, Daryl Griffiths, Adrian Thomas, Graig Jones and Rob Price as Barry Thomas notched four conversions whilst Adam Summerfield, Steffan Jones and Stephen Davies claimed a Morriston try.

Tenby United took their winning sequence to seven matches with a 17-7 win against Milford Haven as outside-half Mark Stephens claimed all their points with four penalties and a try.
