CWMLLYNFELL'S season got off to a cracking start as they handed out the shock result of the day in division one west, beating last season's champions Bonymaen by 16 points to nil.
Peter Thomas was the local hero as he ran in both of the Swansea Valley side's tries and penalties from Ashley Carter and Paul Davies added to the scoreline.
Newly promoted Loughor overcame local rivals Waunarlwydd 29-13. Rory Saunders grabbed a brace of tries whilst Peter Smiriglia was in scintillating form with the boot - kicking both conversions and five penalties.
Last term's runners-up Whitland were also involved in a local derby and just edged out visitors Carmarthen Quins 14-10.
Aled Harris and Gary Evans both crossed with Aled Davies successful with the conversions.

Bargoed, the third promoted club, won 24-14 at Blackwood.
UWIC beat Llanharan 27-17 thanks to the exploits of Scott Sneddon who ran in a try and kicked five penalties and a conversion for a personal tally of 22 points.
