Div 4: Ruthin power clear at top

RUTHIN went nine points clear of Nant Conwy at the head of the North division as the latter did not play and Ruthin beat Pwllheli 20-3.

"We are looking at every game as a hard one," said Ruthin spokesman Dennis-John Hughes.

"We will take nothing for granted and are just glad to get this win behind us. Our full-back Jim Salisbury scored a try in each half and scrum-half Rhys Hughes crossed in the first half with fly-half John Tudor kicking five points."

Bottom club Bala notched up their first point of the season after holding Caernarfon to a 15-15 draw but fellow strugglers Pwllheli went down 20-3 at Ruthin.

Abercwmboi raced in six tries in a 37-6 success over Dowlais in South East. Rhodri Jones went over for a brace and Mark Rees, Gareth Evans, Chris Price and Dafydd Lockyer also claimed touchdowns.

Fairwater kept in touch by defeating Bedlinog 21-12 while Aberdare won 26-3 at Old Penarthians.

South West leaders Alltwen went down to a shock 20-13 home defeat to bottom club Maesteg Celtic but second-placed Taibach lost 8-0 at Morriston.
