Cummings stuns leaders

CHRIS CUMMINGS kicked Barry’s most important three points of the season as Division Four South East’s basement boys stunned leaders Llandaff North with a 3-0 triumph.

With only 10 minutes remaining, the centre kept his head to break the deadlock and hand his side a remarkable first league win of the season.

In Division Three South East, Tylorstown made the most of appalling conditions to record a creditable 24-12 bonus-point win at Brecon. No8 and captain Steve Hogan led the way with a try, while Mark Davies, Kieran Morris and Adam Thomas followed suit.

In Division Two East, Penallta’s Matthew Angel was his side’s saviour as his try won a gruelling contest against Rhydyfelin 5-0.

The prop forward crashed over in the mud shortly after half-time to decide a fierce contest in which a player from each side saw red.

Elsewhere, Mountain Ash and Ynysybwl each claimed a bonus-point win against Pill Harriers and Tredegar respectively.

Gwernyfed’s forwards laid the foundations for their 24-13 triumph at home to rock-bottom Talywain. Their four tries were all scored by the pack in a win that sees them surge eight points clear at the top of Division Four East.
