JAKE WHITE

THE Ospreys have earned a reputation of thinking big and they don’t get much bigger than a World Cup-winning coach. The former South Africa coach is available and had made no secret of his ambition to work in Europe, but he would come at a cost. White will not be cheap but he is one of the best.

SEAN HOLLEY

LYN JONES’ No 2 is highly regarded in coaching circles and must be an outside candidate for the job. He knows all about the Ospreys and played a key role in winning two Magners League titles and the EDF Energy Cup victory over Leicester Tigers. Might be too early in Holley’s career but he has big ambitions.

IAN FOSTER

THE current Waikato Chiefs coach was the man who blocked the path of Warren Gatland, then in charge of the Waikato NPC team, to working in the Super 14. Foster is already being talked about as a future All Blacks coach. The WRU talked to him before they appointed Gatland and Foster’s rugby hero is Barry John.

GLENN MOORE

A completely unknown New Zealander, in his first year as a head coach with the Super 14 outfit the Otago Highlanders. Would be a gamble, but they don’t promote bad coaches in New Zealand to work in the Super 14. A real long shot but who had heard of Steve Hansen before he came to Wales?

PHIL DAVIES

THE former Scarlets supremo, who left Stradey Park a few weeks ago, would be a dark horse for the role, but he certainly fits the bill. After his treatment by his beloved Scarlets, turning up at arch-rivals, the Ospreys, wouldn’t be a wrench for him. It’s a professional game now.
