Blues make a double swoop on the Ospreys

THE BLUES have made a double swoop on the Ospreys after signing Welsh international Aled Brew and fellow winger Richard Mustoe.

The powerful Brew, 21, left, made his Wales debut as a replacement versus Ireland during the 2007 Six Nations and started Tests against Australia and England last summer.

Since returning from his highly-successful loan spell at the Dragons, he has had limited opportunities with the Ospreys, making just six starts this season, with the last of those coming back in January.

But he sent out a reminder about his potential last weekend when he made a big impact as a sub against the Dragons, scoring the only try of the game.

Mustoe, 26, was on the opposing wing for that Liberty Stadium clash, having become a regular for the Gwent region since his loan switch from the Ospreys.

Welcoming the signings, Blues chief executive Bob Norster said: “Both Aled and Richard are quality Welsh players who will give us options on the wings for next season.

“These singings are sure to strengthen the competition for places and provides us valuable strength in depth.”

Meanwhile, utility back Tal Selley, who has been on a year-long loan from the Ospreys, is winging out of the Arms Park to join the Dragons, which will make him the first player to play for all four Welsh regions.
