Win over Brecon marks 40th victory

BEDLINOG reached another milestone as they recorded their 40th game without defeat when they dispatched visitors Brecon 24-3.

Richard Rees, Chris Link, Lee Harrison and Hugh Jones all ran in tries and Geraint Edmunds added two conversions as the Division Three South East picked up a bonus point.

Second-placed Gilfach Goch lost ground as they went down 12-3 at mid-table Llantwit Fardre.

Third-placed Tylorstown scored five tries as they swept aside Fairwater 40-3.

In Division Three South West, leaders BP’s match with Maesteg Quins was rained off and second-placed Nantyffyllon took advantage as they beat Seven Sisters 20-3.

Lee Bumford, Ryan Turner and Adrian Lewis all ran in a try apiece and Nathan Healey added a conversion and a penalty.

Third-placed Tondu lost ground as they could manage only a 13-13 draw with Briton Ferry. Lowly Tonna gave their survival hopes a boost with a 24-7 victory over Kenfig Hill.

Only one fixture went ahead in Four South East and promotion favourites Llandaff North increased their advantage to 11 points as they won 12-8 at Llantwit Major.

Gavin James and Daniel French scored the vital try and Chris Burke put over a conversion.

There was just one game in Division Four South West.

Captain for the day, Steve John, was awarded man-of-the-match as he went over for a try and kicked eight points for Pontycymmer who ran out 20-14 victors over Ystalyfera.

In Five South Central, Pyle crossed the Rhigos line 10 times in a 62-7 rout.

Barry Grabham swooped for a hat-trick of touchdowns and John Weller and brothers John and Robert Furton all grabbed a brace, but the day’s top scorer was Lee Jones who ran in a try and scored 12 points.

Second-placed Porthcawl bagged six tries as they overwhelmed South Wales Police 37-22.
