Ebbw Vale 62-7 Tondu
VALE cruised into the next round of the cup with a 10-try demolition of the Waterwheelers at Eugene Cross Park.
The gap between the two sides was apparent within the first 15 minutes. By that time Vale were three tries in front and opting for scrummages rather than penalties to give their backs plenty of chances to run the ball.
By half time they had posted four tries for a lead of 22-0 and the pressure was unrelenting throughout the second half.
Huge areas of unprotected space became available as Tondu tired and allowed centres James Lewis and Greg Roberts to revel in the early possession handed to them by outside-half Chris Anderson.
Wing three-quarter John Williams raced over for a hat-trick of tries and there were two from 18-year-old prop Aaron Coundley.
None tried harder for Tondu than flanker Matthew Morgans. Their only try, from scrum-half and captain Sam Rees, was greeted with a huge cheer.
EBBW VALE: Tries – J Williams (3), G Roberts (2), A Coundley (2), S Hunt, A Bevan, W Thomas; cons - C Anderson (6).
TONDU: Try – S Rees; con – Thomas.
