THREE tries helped Aberystwyth to win 19-6 in their top-of-the-table clash at Ammanford after a titanic struggle had seen them just a point ahead throughout almost all the second period.
Aber led 7-6 at half-time with a good try by flanker Eifion Gwyn, which Gwilym Evans converted, while Ammanford’s response was two Craig Maloney penalties.
But Aber grabbed late tries from outside-half Barry Thomas and centre Paul Stubbs, one converted by Evans, to stay in second spot – and still chasing Ammanford.

But Laugharne were 17-0 ahead at half-time through tries by centres Deian Thomas (2) and Nick Thomas, one converted by Alistair Chambers, who added another four conversions afterwards as Ross Harries (2), Adrian Davies, Martin Jones and Nick Thomas again crossed in a big Laugharne win.
Haverfordwest halted Cardigan’s climb up the table with a 28-8 win after Cardigan led 8-0 at the break through a try by Nigel Kurish and a Colin Davies penalty.
But it was all Haverfordwest then with tries by Jonathan Venables, Alun Harries and Andrew Thicker together with two conversions and three penalties by Steve Williams.
Felinfoel continued their undefeated record in Division Two (West) thanks to a 37-12 home verdict over Cwmavon, with tries by Craig Griffiths (2), skipper Mike Buckingham, Stuart Jenkins, Emyr Jones and Matthew Richards, and Jason Davies contributed a penalty and two conversions.
