Caernarfon clear at the top

CAERNARFON maintained their unbeaten run in Division Four (North), moving 14 points clear at the top of the table as second-placed Mold lost ground at Colwyn Bay.

Caernarfon picked up maximum points at Dolgellau with a 31-10 win, tries coming from No 8 Rhys Evans, flanker Dewi Williams (2), second row Mark Vaughan and replacement Alan Mark.

Outside half Kelvin Morris added three conversions. Second row Dafydd Edwards crossed for the home side, while fly half Tom Roberts added a conversion and penalty.

Reigning champions Mold succumbed to their fourth league defeat of the season, losing 26-12 at Colwyn Bay.

The home side claimed a bonus point by running in four tries; one apiece from wing Will Blackwell and flanker Mark Earl and two from wing James Thatcher. Outside half Huw Roberts converted three.

Wing Liam Gill and No 8 Chris Lewis touched down for the visitors, centre Dan Edmonds adding a conversion.

Ruthin moved level with Mold on points following their 40-5 home win over Llangefni.

No 8 Mike Stubbs claimed a hat-trick of tries, with more from second row Chris Davies, flanker John Meldron and full-back Kyle Davies. Outside half Adam Robson kicked five conversions.

Denbigh held on at Llandudno to win by 30-29.
