Aberavon 22-7 Llandovery
THE magic boot of Wizards’ fly-half Jamie Davies sent the cup holders Llandovery out as he landed a conversion and five of his six penalty attempts.
In a match dominated by the defences, it needed a second-half try by home flanker Simon Peters to break the stalemate, though the Drovers hit back from 16-0 down as full-back Gareth James went clear and fly-half Gareth Morgan converted.
Llandovery lacked confidence when near the try-line and scrum-half Richard Cunliffe and James threw away great chances. A third Davies penalty and the Peters try took Aberavon clear.
James made amends for his miss as he ended a good passing move, but Davies kicked two more goals over to knock Llandovery out.
Aberavon: Try – S Peters; Con – J Davies; Pens – J Davies (5).
Llandovery: Try – G James; Con – G Morgan.
