Alan’s two tries keep his team at the top

A LATE try from second row Alan Mark, his second of the game, saved Caernarfon’s unbeaten record as they stayed top of division four (North) with a 22-18 win at Llandudno.

The home side raced into a 12-0 lead with tries from prop Danny Barlow and scrum-half Pat Coy, with full-back Rhodri Carlton Jones adding a conversion. But the league leaders came back with tries from wing Llion Williams, second row Alan Mark and outside-half Kelfyn Morris, who also kicked a conversion.

Full-back Carlton Jones regained the lead with a brace of penalties before the late try which claimed the win and a bonus point.

Second-placed Mold overcame Llangefni 34-12 with tries from second row Patty Hughes, No 8 Chris Lewis, outside-half Scott Henshaw and scrum-half Jamie Griffiths, who also kicked four conversions and two penalties.

The home side responded with tries from outside-half Llyr Hughes and centre Gareth Roberts, full-back Arwel Roberts adding a conversion.

Nant Conwy kept the pressure on the leaders with a maximum points haul at Dinbich with a 34-17 win, their tries coming from second row Adam Russell, full-back Grant Jones, centre Ifor Jones and two from centre Steffan Morgan.

Outside-half Peredur Ellis added three conversions and a penalty. Ruthin were the division’s leading scorers of the day with a 57-0 win at Newtown, where they ran in nine tries – three for full-back Kyle Davies and two by centre Grant Mann.

Colwyn Bay claimed a try bonus try in their 24-10 home win over Bala, with tries from full-back Sean McDonagh, wing Tom Blackwell, flanker Dave Brown and wing Jay Beardmore. Outside-half Josh Leach added two conversions.

Dolgellau overcame Llanidloes 29-10, with outside-half Tom Roberts scoring 14 of his side’s points with a try, three conversions and a penalty.The other tries came from second row Dan Edwards and No 8 Dylan Llewellyn.

At the top of division five, Pwllheli defeated league leaders Wrexham 29-0 thanks to tries from flanker Melir Hughes, hooker Dafydd Merddin, and two from full-back David Lloyd-Williams. Fly-half Elgan Rowlands added three conversions and a penalty.
