Haines leads the way

CARMARTHEN ATHLETIC’S Chris Haines scored a hat-trick as the Five Fields club ran riot in their 11-try demolition of Nantymoel in Division Two.

Flying wing Haines scorched over three times, while flanker Mark Jones also grabbed two in Athletic's 77-0 win against the league’s bottom side to leap into third place.

Carmarthen overtook Kidwelly, who crashed 45-6 at Pencoed, who continued their improvement with seven tries, including two-apiece for wing Keith David and fly-half Mark Davies who converted five.

Leaders Mumbles won their fifth straight game, but were made to work for a 31-26 victory at Gorseinon.

Ammanford continued their unbeaten start in Division Three, but failed to pick up a bonus point at home in their unconvincing 21-17 win over Cardigan.

Neighbours Amman United were far more impressive in beating Pembroke Dock Quins 46-3 at Cwmamman Park for their first success of the campaign.

Skewen clinched a first win in Division Three South West thanks to a last-gasp try by Simon Jeremy.
