Young Blues pair stand by for debut

YOUNG wingers Roger Davies and Leigh Halfpenny, right, will make their debuts for the Blues in their league finale at Ulster tonight (7.30pm), writes Phil Blanche.

The Blues have already secured their position as top-placed Welsh team in the Magners League this season, and know victory at Ravenhill will keep them ahead of Munster in second spot.

“Overall this season has been a big step forward for us,” said Blues director of rugby Dai Young.

“We won two out of three in the EDF, reached the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup and are the best placed Welsh region in the Magners League.”

In a much-changed team from the one which beat Connacht in Galway last weekend, only Nick Robinson, Xavier Rush, Scott Morgan, Maama Molitika and Fao Filise survive.

Blues: N Macleod; R Davies, M Stcherbina, D Hewitt, L Halfpenny; N Robinson, R Rees; X Rush (capt), B White, M Molitika, S Morgan, B Davies, G Powell, G Williams, T Filise. Replacements: J Yapp, T Rhys Thomas, J Down, M Lewis, R Shellard, J Spice, D Flanagan.
