CARDIFF Blues have vowed to make it a Super Sunday for the Welsh capital city as the football and rugby sides prepare for the most important games in their recent history.
Cardiff City face Barnsley in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, while the Blues travel to face Toulouse in the Heineken Cup quarter-final, the first time the region have qualified for the European last eight since their inception in 2003.
And with the two sides set to share a new stadium at Leckwith at the beginning of the 2009-10 season, Blues coach Dai Young believes a double victory would be an ideal way to commemorate the link-up between football and rugby.
“It is good news for the city and it puts Cardiff on the map,” said Young.
“We are going to share facilities at the new stadium so it would be great for both of us to continue that success on the playing field.
“It can only add interest and it is great for the city.”
And Young’s comments were echoed by Cardiff and Wales wing Jamie Roberts.
“It is a massive weekend for Cardiff sport,” said Roberts.
“It is the biggest game in the Blues’ history and hopefully we will be celebrating a victory along with the football side.”
