‘Cowbridge Express’ claims speedy treble

THE start of this return fixture between Heart of Wales District under-13s and their Cardiff & Vale District counterparts was delayed to allow the unusual February sunshine to thaw the frozen Aberdare pitch.

But the visitors didn’t take long to make up any lost time, with Christian Roberts-Waters emerging as the star of their show.

The ‘Cowbridge Express’ sped over for a hat-trick of tries inside eight first-half minutes, the pick of them a 75-metre effort from just outside his own 22.

St Peter’s wing Cobi Flowers crossed for Cardiff & Vale’s fourth try, while a conversion from Josh Rees (Rhiwbina) gave them a 22-3 interval lead.

The second half proved to be a scrappier affair, but Cardiff & Vale weren’t to be denied as they claimed further scores through prop Damian Atkins (Glam Wanderers) and replacement centre Jacob Chilcott (Rhiwbina), with Kyle Barros (Barry) adding one conversion.
