Dai Young to coach Baa-Baas

CARDIFF BLUES coach Dai Young has been selected to coach the Barbarians on their summer tour.

Young, who played six times for the Barbarians, has been making massive strides as a coach since taking the reins of the Blues in 2002. This season he has guided the Blues into the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup for the first time and seen his side soar to second in the Magners League.

The former prop, who played in the 1987 World Cup, said, “It is an honour for me to coach the Barbarians.”

The 51-times capped player added, “My time spent with the Baa-Baas was always something to relish, and, from what I have heard, nothing much has changed.

“It will give me an opportunity to work with top-quality players from several different nations and backgrounds in an international environment.”

The Barbarians will embark on three-match tour in May, playing in Brussels against an International Invitation XV, as well as England.
