A LAPDANCER called Peaches stripped off for a customer who slipped £20 in her G-string - unaware he was an undercover government investigator.
Julieanne Beecher earned up to £300 a week dancing for businessmen at the same time as claiming state benefits.
And a DSS fraud detective was sent on a secret mission to mingle with male customers at The Fantasy Lounge.
He called Peaches over to dance to give her the £20 note, but the civil servant was secretly filming the stripper's dance routine during his 40-minute visit to the club.
Peaches, 24, was a favourite with wealthy clients at The Fantasy Lounge in Cardiff city centre.
Cardiff Magistrates Court yesterday heard that Peaches received £10,856 in income support, housing and council tax benefits.
Prosecutor Jonathan Holmes said, "Miss Beecher was on income support and claiming benefits when she failed to declare her earnings from the lap-dancing club.
"Every time she received benefits she had to sign to say she was earning less than £20 a week."
Mother-of-two Beecher admitted four charges under Section 111 of the Social Security Act.
She asked for three further charges to be taken into consideration.
Trudy McBride, defending, said, "She is a woman of clean character who was struggling to bring up two children alone.
"She was in a trap and felt she needed some extra money.
"But if she had applied for benefits and tax credits she was entitled to, she would not be here in court now."
Cardiff magistrates heard Beecher received £4,992 in income support, £4,763 in housing benefit and £1,079 in council tax benefit.
Beecher, of Pengam Green, Cardiff, was given a 240-hour community service order.
But chairman of the bench Stuart Merry told her, "You came close to going to prison."
After the case Beecher said, "I don't remember dancing for the fraud investigator - I dance for so many people.
"But he would have seen me pole dancing then called me over.
"When I was interviewed over the fraud I'm pretty sure I recognised him.
"I'm relieved I didn't go to jail - I'm just glad it's all over and I can put it behind me."
The Fantasy Lounge is billed as "Cardiff's only exclusive lap and pole dancing venue".
The club charges up to £10 entrance fee and is open until 2am weekdays and 3am on Saturdays.
