AN ASIAN election candidate claimed police stopped him at a rally because of his race.
Asghar Ali, a Lib-Dem councillor, was meeting party leader Charles Kennedy at Cardiff Airport yesterday.
He told BBC Wales, "He [a policeman] took me to the foyer and said 'you seem to be on your own'. If he meant I was on my own with my colour of skin, he was right. But otherwise, I was with a lot of other councillors."
The police said stopping Mr Ali was "necessary and appropriate" because he was not wearing an ID badge
Journalists covering Mr Kennedy's visit were not told to wear badges or show identification.
