PAUL POTTS is set to top the chart this Sunday with his debut album.
The Britain’s Got Talent winner from Port Talbot released One Chance on Monday.
He is outselling nearest rival The Enemy by five to one, and is on course to shift 100,000 copies by the weekend.
HMV’s Gennaro Castaldo said, “It’s incredible how TV can take a completely unknown artist and catapult him to overnight chart success.
“Paul’s brand of music has very wide appeal, as the likes of Il Divo and G4 have shown. This gives him every chance of connecting with a wider audience, and you only need a portion of the show’s TV viewers to go and buy the recording for it to be a huge hit.”
Potts, 36, was a mobile phone salesman before finding fame on the TV talent show.
His rendition of Nessun Dorma went down a storm and more than 10 million people have seen clips of his performance on YouTube.
Potts has signed a £1m deal with Simon Cowell’s record label SyCo Music, part of Sony BMG.
