A WELSH hotel owner got the shock of her life when the film idol whom she named her young son after walked in and booked a suite.
Indiana Jones and Star Wars star Harrison Ford turned up at the Bryn Howel Hotel, in Llangollen, with his five-year-old son Liam and girlfriend Calista Flockhart.
The three spent Monday night at the hotel and visited Llangollen's International Eisteddfod before leaving for Barcelona on Tuesday.
Ford, who remains one of Hollywood's most bankable actors, and Flockhart, who achieved global fame as Ally McBeal, enjoyed a trip on Llangollen's canal boat with Liam before checking into the hotel.
Hotel owner Susan Cohen, who had named her nine-year-old son Zachary Harrison Cohen after the star, described her delight when Ford turned up looking for a room.
She said, "I was absolutely thrilled when he turned up, because I've always liked him and I was thrilled to think he had just popped into our hotel like that.
"It's the sort of thing you dream about - your idol just popping in through the door."
Staff at the three-star hotel knew the star was due to celebrate his birthday and Ford was taken aback when they made him a cake. "He was over the moon because he didn't think anyone had remembered," said Ms Cohen.
While the couple opted for relatively simple meals in the hotel restaurant - beef steaks, Dover sole and salad - they thanked the staff for the food and their hospitality in a letter before leaving.
Liam was enchanted when a lamb from an adjacent field found its way on to the hotel lawn. Ms Cohen said, "While they were in the restaurant some little lambs and sheep escaped from the field next door on to our lawn and his little boy went out to look at them and Harrison Ford took a picture.
"They thought it was wonderful because the sheep came on to the lawn."
Harrison Ford was originally a carpenter who had been acting for several years before he came to prominence as Han Solo in George Lucas's blockbusting sci-fi trilogy. He went on to make three Indiana Jones films with Steven Spielberg and made smash hits out of films such as The Fugitive and Witness.
He divorced his second wife of 19 years, Melissa Mathison, earlier this year, but had been separated from her and living with Flockhart for several years.
