A POSTMAN is one step away from a £58,000 payday after an audacious double bet on two slices of Welsh sporting glory.
Mike Price, from Carmarthen, 30, staked £25 on a double of Wales to win the Grand Slam in this year’s Six Nations and the Bluebirds to lift the FA Cup.
He was given odds of 28/1 on Warren Gatland’s men securing a clean sweep in the coach’s maiden tournament in charge of Wales, but much longer 80/1 odds on outsiders Cardiff City marching all the way to Wembley.
He said: “It was a real long shot, but I am a patriotic Welshman and I thought it was worth a go. “I can’t believe I’m on the verge of such a big win. I would be picking up three times my annual salary in one go.”
But City fan Mike, a father of one, won’t be watching the game – instead he’ll be at St David’s Hall in Cardiff picking up an Open University science degree.
