A FORMER police officer appeared in court today charged with making and possessing indecent pictures of children.
The offences are alleged to have happened while Geoffrey Harries, 49, was a Constable with Dyfed-Powys Police.
Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard that the charges relate to 2,082 images – nine of which come under the most serious classification of Level Five and 52 classified as Level Four.
Harries, of Ashburnham Road, Pembrey, Burry Port, faces 15 counts of making indecent images between May 2005 and December 2007, and one count of possessing indecent images on November 26 last year.
He resigned from the force on March 26 this year.
District Judge John Charles said the case was unsuitable to be heard at the Magistrates’ Court and committed Harries to stand trial at Crown Court.
He said: “You are granted bail to attend Cardiff Crown Court at 9am on June 16.”
The case has been brought following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission
