E.coli families' anger at health officials

THE families of the E.coli victims believe the public officials charged with protecting their families failed in their duty.

But they have also told inquiry chairman Professor Hugh Pennington that butcher William Tudor “motivated by greed and profit bears the principal responsibility for the outbreak”.

The remarks have been made in a closing written submission to the inquiry before the final hearing takes place on Wednesday, May 14.

Other core participants including Bridgend council, whose environmental health officers allowed Tudor to continue trading, have also handed in final submissions.

In its statement, Bridgend council cites William Tudor’s deceit of its environmental health officers, which led them to believe he was “a competent and informed operator of a food business”.
