Hook’s fire message

WELSH rugby hero James Hook is launching a campaign to warn young people of the dangers of starting grass fires.

Thousands of fires are started deliberately in the Welsh countryside each year, many of them by young people.

James will launch the Fire Flash 2008 Anti Grass Arson Campaign in Pontypridd town centre tomorrow at 10am. The campaign hopes to encourage youngsters to think about the consequences of setting deliberate grass fires.

James said: “Grass fires place lives and homes at risk, they prevent firefighters from attending other emergencies, they blight the countryside and waste large amounts of money.

“I want people to think again before getting involved in grass arson.”

Bluetooth messages will also be sent to teens’ mobile phones demonstrating the dangers.
