Dangerous lighters removed from shops

POTENTIALLY dangerous lighters have been removed from a shop as part of a Trading Standards operation.

New legislation means all lighters now must be child-resistant and there is an outright ban on novelty lighters.

Rhondda Cynon Taf officers took to the streets to check shops were complying and handed out leaflets.

Only one outlet still had offending stock, which was taken and destroyed.

Paul Mee, Director of Public Health and Protection, said: “We were pleased to see so many shops had already removed the these items from sale.”
