CADETS are to be rewarded for their fundraising efforts during the Poppy Appeal.
Cadets from across South Wales who raised the most money will be presented with awards by Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards during a presentation evening at Ty Llewellyn TA Centre in Cardiff on Friday. The cadets in South Wales collected a total of £15,391.
Awards will be given to those cadets who went the extra mile during the appeal.
The overall unit winners’ cup will go to the Barry Sea Cadets and the runners-up shield will be awarded to the Bridgend Detachment Glamorgan Army Cadet Force.
The Royal British Legion’s acting regional fundraiser for Wales and Ireland Dudley Johnson said: “So often youngsters get a bad press, but the magnificent effort of these young people in raising this huge amount for the Poppy Appeal needs to be recognised and applauded.”
