Youth centre blaze

A FIRE investigation was under way today into the cause of a blaze which destroyed a former youth centre.

Fire broke out at the disused building on Sir Ivors Road, Pontllanfraith, at about 7pm last night.

Four appliances from Cefn Fforest, Abercarn and Bargoed spent around two hours tackling the blaze, which gutted the building which was thought to have been earmarked for demolition.

The road was also closed for about two hours.
